Procedural sedation is carried out in majority of hospitals and the practice at any particular institution is locally governed and influenced by their local standards, but the general standards set by the international bodies must be followed.
Any facility that provide procedural sedation, must have established policies and procedures to handle unanticipated patient transfer to an acute care hospital. In the current course, we will mostly focus on pediatric procedural sedation.

Sedation certification is valid for 2 years from the date of issue and and recertification is reuired for nurses who are providing moderate sedation.
